It Takes Two to Talk® - The Hanen Program® (Shorewood)

It Takes Two to Talk® (ITTT) is designed for parents of children (18 months to 5 years) who have been identified as having a language delay. The pre-program consultation/evaluation will determine each child’s eligibility for ITTT.

Led by Lindsay Haumschild, MS, CCC-SLP, a Hanen certified speech-language pathologist, this 12-week course teaches you, step-by-step, how to become your child’s most important language teacher. You’ll learn practical strategies that can be used naturally during everyday activities like mealtime, story time and bath time.

ITTT is a casual, interactive, and judgement-free experience. The group is intentionally kept small to allow for connection around similar concerns/frustrations, and to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and confident sharing and practicing the learned skills at home. Lindsay will guide the group as a whole and create individualized plans with each family, that will be monitored throughout the 12 weeks.

Some of learned skills include how to:

• Recognize your child’s stage and style of communication
• Identify what motivates your child to interact with you
• Adjust everyday routines to help your child join in and keep interactions going
• Follow your child’s lead
• Tweak how you play and read books with your child to support language learning

The program includes:

• 1 Informational (virtual) Session for interested parents (1 hr)
• 1 Individual Pre-program Consultation & Evaluation for parent(s) & child (1.5 hrs)
• 8 Group Sessions for parent(s) (2.5 hr/session)
• 3 Individual Video Feedback Sessions for parent(s) & child (1-1.5 hrs/session)

You’ll receive: 20 hours of group instruction, 3-4.5 hours of individual sessions, 1.5 hour speech and language evaluation, and 1 hour informational session. A total of up to 27 hours of skilled intervention & instruction, travel to/from your home for 4 individual visits, and a 170-page guidebook with full color illustrations. A value of over $1,299!!

A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure registration. The remaining balance of $649 is due prior to the start of course on 10/4/22 or may be split into smaller payments (additional transaction fee applies).

Please note, the cost of the program is per FAMILY. More than one parent/caregiver may attend at no additional cost; however, it is required that one person remain consistent each week as sessions build upon each other.
